Are we ready for His coming?
We all know that these are end times, the whole world is in turmoil, nation is raging against nation, people against people, wars and rumors of wars, great apostasy in the church. Exactly like it has been predicted by Jesus. Please read Matt 24: 6-12
"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains. 9"Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. "
In verse8 The Lord said these things are the beginning of birth pains,so birth pains have started!!
What happened when He came the first time?
So are we ready for Him? Remember, when He came the first time, the people of Israel were not ready for Him, Neither were they looking for Him nor were they ready for Him. They had created their own religion and were zealous in pursuing it. They were honoring one another, toadying their prestigious leaders and wallowing in their false notions that they are serving the living God in doing so!
Isaiah rightly prophesied about such sycophant pursuers of vainglory in Isaiah 29:13-14 13 And so the Lord says, "These people say they are mine. They honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. And their worship of me amounts to nothing more than human laws learned by rote.[4] 14Because of this, I will do wonders among these hypocrites. I will show that human wisdom is foolish and even the most brilliant people lack understanding."
What do we need to learn from it?
God’s word and wisdom are available to everyone. God wants us to desire Him more. In Isaiah 55:1-2 He says, "Come and drink all who thirst, those who do not have money come and drink". We should honor who preach the word of God also we need to be careful to grow in the knowledge and spirit of Christ. If we don’t thirst then we become idolaters of men. Leaders and men are weak, only God is perfect.
We need to learn from scripture and be strong in the grace and knowledge of God in these last days. Lets see what the Lord has said about these times.
How to have peace and prepare ourselves during these days?
Luke 21:34-36 "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap. For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.
Luke 21: 18-19 But not a hair of your head will perish. By standing firm you will gain life. What a promise for those who are eagerly waiting for the Lord! But the Lord has warned us that we should not be diverted by the anxieties and lusts of this world.
Also in 1 Thes 4: 4-11 "But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. "
So are we ready for the inheritance that is unfading, undefiled, beyond corruption, waiting for those who love God? Are we putting on the breastplate of faith, hope of salvation as helmet, the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God? Are we encouraging one another or growing cold and preoccupied by our own things and not bothered about the things that are happening around us? Let us examine ourselves and re-commit ourselves to the Lord and seek His matchless grace.
Let us pray: Dear Lord, make us ready for Thy coming, make us grow in Thy faith and knowledge. Grant us Thy Spirit and revelation and help us to rejoice in Thy promises and spirit. Help us to grow into Thy likeness. In Jesus name
