1)Becoming a child of God

John 1:1-5 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

John 1:10-13
He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Lets ask some questions before we accept these truths. How did John know about Jesus' diety? What is the purpose of writing these books called Gospels. Are they trustworty?

Answer to our first question "Who John was and how did he know about Jesus's diety?":
St. John wrote this book of John (one of the Gospels). He is the desciple of Jesus and had first hand knowledge of who Jesus was. He lived with Jesus all the 3 years of Jesus's ministry. Here John is testifying that Jesus is the son of God. And it is he ( the Word ) who created the heaven and earth by his word.

What is the purpose of writing these scriptures? Are they trustworthy?. To answer this question lets read 1John1: 1-4 :
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life-- the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us-- that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.

In this passage John is saying that they are not writing any fabricated stories, they are writing what they have seen, touched with their hands, walked with and testify that Jesus is the son of God. Let us also read John 20:30-31:
And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presense of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

So my friend, what we have read is the eyewitness account of St. John about who Jesus is. As the scripture says, If you believe Jesus is the son of God and invite him into your heart, you will become a child of God and have enternal life.

One may ask the question, if God loves everyone unconditionally then why is this condition that one should accept Jesus Christ to become child of God? or to have eternal life?

The answer is in the above scripture portion 1John1: 1-4 which is that Jesus himself is the eternal life. When you believe he is the son God and invite him into your heart, you are inviting this eternal life. So if you don't invite eternal life into your heart you will not have eternal life. There is no pre-condition. That is why scripture says in John 3:16:
God so loved the world(human beings) that he gave His only begotten son (Jesus), that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

Let us hear what Jesus himself said in John 5:24:
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent me ( that is God ) has everlasting life, and shall not come come into judgement, but has passed from death into life.

So my friend when we accept that Jesus is the son of God and invite Him into our heart, all our past sins we committed, whatever it may be, God will not remember them anymore, because Jesus bore your punishment on the cross. God has given Jesus so that we may have peace with God.

God will give us a new heart filled with his peace and joy that this world cannot give, when we Confess our sins and accept him as your personal savior ( that is that He died for your sins ).

Say this little prayer:
Lord Jesus, I believe that you are the son of God. I confess and repent of all my sins. I accept you as my personal savior who died in my place for my sins so that I may have eternal life. I invite you into my heart with all of my heart. Give me peace, joy and eternal life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Friend if you prayed this prayer, then you are saved. Find yourself a bible believing church and start reading bible. Remeber its not about religion, its about God and about truth. May God give you the knowledge of truth and keep you from falling.
