God is in control

Every human being goes through several phases in life, when they are overwhelmed by the circumstances and bitter realities of life. Many times we question, "is there God? Is He listening to us? Why am I going through this?". We get such questions when our dreams are shattered by the merciless realities of life. Let us see what God's word says in the book of Isaiah:

Isaiah 40:27-28
Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD ; my cause is disregarded by my God"? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Isaiah 42:5
This is what God the LORD says- he who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and all that comes out of it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it

Our ways are not hidden from God. The very life that we have which gives light to us is from Him. Gods word says life proceeds from God and returns back to God. David knew that and says in Psalm 139:

Pslams 139:7-12
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. "

God knows even our thoughts from afar. Even before we say a word, He knows it. Its really hard to imagine for some of us in this day and age we live in. Is'nt it so uncomfortable to know that someone knows even our thoughts?. We know how bad the imaginations of human heart can be. The good news is that God knows how weak the human heart is, He knows that we are dust, like the flower of the field we flourish, the wind blows over it and it is gone.

When believers go away from God's will, there is danger of peacelessness, strife and failure. But God is always waiting with open arms for us to repent and come back to Him.

So many of us always ignore God in our important decisions of life. Decisions like choosing a marriage partner, job, children, church, our activities. We always forget to stop for a while and ask an important question "Is this acceptable to God?". God never forces His will on us. He delights when we submit to Him in love and shows us His direction when we ask Him. He is the living God. Take this example of Israelites. After they conquered Jericho under the leadership of Joshua, carefully following the directions of God, were immediately defeated by the people of Ai even though there were very few men in Ai, because they sinned and did not inquire of the Lord. That is what happens when we get over-confident. When we trust our own abilities we get deceived. When Isralites were deceived by Gibeonites God's word in Joshua 9:14 says "The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the LORD".

Human life is like a vapor, today it is there and tomorrow it is not. We are often faced with immense grief when a loved one passes away. But my friend when you know that your sins are forgiven, when you have the assurance of everlasting life and God's inheritence in heaven, grief turns into joy and peace. Do you have that assurance of salvation?. The peace, joy and hope are in fellowship with Jesus the Son of God. Dear believer, we need to continue to abide in Jesus not in ourselves. That is what is being born again. Having fellowship with Son of God, when we have fellowship with Son of God, nothing can take away our peace. Read Romans 8: 38-39:

Romans 8: 38-39
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Please read this wonderful illustration given to a man of God:
A mother once hid herself in a garden amongst some densely growing shrubs, and her little son went in search of her here and there crying, as he went. Through the whole garden he went, but could not find her. A servant said to him, "Sonny, don't cry! Look at the mangoes on this tree and all the pretty, pretty flowers in the garden. Come, I am going to get some for you." But the child cried out, "No! No! I want my mother. The food she gives me is nicer than all the mangoes, and her love is sweeter far than all these flowers, and indeed you know that all this garden is mine, for all that my mother has is mine. No! I want my mother!" When the mother, hidden in the bushes, heard this, she rushed out and, snatching her child to her breast, smothered him with kisses, and that garden became a paradise to the child. In this way believers cannot find in this great garden of world, so full of charm and beautiful things any true joy until they find Christ. He is their Emmanuel, who is ever with them, and He makes Himself known to them.

-Amen
